Rainfall - January 2011

After receiveing around 6 inches of rain over five days from Monday 10th to Friday 14
th January 2011 local area flooding resulted in water flowing into the channel in Douglas, it then overflowed at various places into that section of the paddock under the channel.

All this water was from the local area with a large volume flowing from the vacinity of "Colberts" on McNamaras Road down the hill and into the West Laen Channel at the corner of the Laen Litchfield Road.  Water has also flowed from the the higher ground in Douglas, Merretts paddocks and "Guyatts".

The water then flowed to the lowest point, the gate in the North East corner at the intersection of Greens and the Laen Litchfield Roads out the gate and in a generally easterly direction down Greens Road.

These waters combined with water flowing from Peter Pendlebury's paddock, water flowing down Greens Road west of the intersection and water flowing north down the table drain along the Laen Litchfield Road and down the channel in the Old Paddock.

The water flowed down Greens Road at the same pace for more than 24 hours. It had slowed by Sunday morning and as of Monday morning it had slowed to a trickle out of the gate.

Later on Friday I walked down "Greens River" through the timber in at the North end of the Old Paddock, the water on the "high ground" was half way up the gum boots. In places I had to walk through water up to my knees. The water covered the entire timber in the Old Paddock and the Paddock Behind the Dam.  I was not able to walk up the the Reserve to guage how much water there was at that end of the Road.
